DESCRIPTION:Ars Gratia Artis is an annual fundraiser for Sacramento Fine Arts Center. Every year artists donate their art to our center. The artwork is displayed in our gallery and online for a short time. At the conclusion of the exhibit\, we host a reception and drawing. At the Reception\, we call the names of tickets holders at random in order to determine the order the donors select art. Every ticket holder may choose their piece when their ticket is called. \nArs Gratia Artis is NOT an art auction or raffle. Every ticket holder is guaranteed one piece of art per ticket. Buyers interested in obtaining art from this exhibit may purchase a ticket for $100. \nHOW TO PARTICIPATE:\nStep 1: Preview the art online.\nStep 2: Purchase your tickets online or in our Gallery Store.\nStep 3: Visit the gallery to view the art in person.\nStep 4: Make a list of your top selections.\nStep 5: Join us in person or online for the Reception.\nStep 6: Make sure to cross off any pieces on your list that have been selected.\nStep 7: When your name is drawn\, tell the event host what art you have selected.\nStep 8: Congratulations! DESCRIPTION:WASH invites you to a demonstration by Anselm Yew on March 9th at 1:30pm.\nAnselm began his artistic career by attending the Academy of Art College in San Francisco in the late 90s\, where he started with three-dimensional animation. He ventured into two-dimensional animation for ads\, games\, cartoons\, and multimedia. Anselm drifted to digital illustration where he developed concept art for mobile games. In an attempt to expand his portfolio\, he found an interest in gouache\, ink\, and watercolor in his free time. His beautiful colors capture the landscape\, cityscape\, and people. \nAnselm analyzes each of his paintings by breaking objects into abstract shapes. He starts with the largest shape\, then progresses to the smallest. Anselm tries to perceive areas of contrast\, then of temperature\, and finally color. He considers where to place soft and hard edges. DESCRIPTION:Zoom Link \n\n\nDemo:\n\n\nCome join WASH to watch Stella Canfield paint the skies on January 12th\, 2026 at 1:30pm.\n\n\nBefore she became an artist\, Stella Canfield began her educational journey as a national athlete. Born in Varna\, Bulgaria\, she graduated from the Academy of Sports in Sofia with a Master’s Degree in Pedagogy. She spent the first three decades of her life as a national rowing competitor. In 1980\, she escaped the oppressive dictator’s regime and moved to Germany\, where she first explored her creativity through ceramics. Stella then immigrated to the United States in 1985\, where watercolor\, a medium she had cherished since childhood\, became her true passion. Since then\, Stella has taught workshops\, juried exhibitions\, and participated in shows throughout the USA\, Europe\, and Asia. Her award-winning paintings are part of numerous private\, corporate\, and museum collections. Stella’s work is featured in Karlyn Holman’s book “Watercolor : The Spirit of Spontaneity.” Since 2001\, Stella has been an invited instructor at Daniel Smith Inc.\, one of the world’s leading producers of art materials. The company purchased one of her paintings for its permanent collection. She has also been featured in John Cogley’s interview series In the Artist’s Studio.\n\n\n\n\n\nThrough her watercolors paintings\, Stella prides herself in sharing her passion for beauty\, her belief in human connection\, and her unwavering joy for life. Stella’s watercolor portfolio consists of vivid\, inviting\, wet-in-wet landscapes\, waterscapes\, and portraiture. Her art is a vivid dialogue between her inner world and the canvas\, alive with vibrant color\, sweeping\, dynamic brushstrokes\, and an undeniable emotional presence.
