DESCRIPTION:Zoom Link \n\n\nDemo:\n\n\nCome join WASH to watch Stella Canfield paint the skies on January 12th\, 2026 at 1:30pm.\n\n\nBefore she became an artist\, Stella Canfield began her educational journey as a national athlete. Born in Varna\, Bulgaria\, she graduated from the Academy of Sports in Sofia with a Master’s Degree in Pedagogy. She spent the first three decades of her life as a national rowing competitor. In 1980\, she escaped the oppressive dictator’s regime and moved to Germany\, where she first explored her creativity through ceramics. Stella then immigrated to the United States in 1985\, where watercolor\, a medium she had cherished since childhood\, became her true passion. Since then\, Stella has taught workshops\, juried exhibitions\, and participated in shows throughout the USA\, Europe\, and Asia. Her award-winning paintings are part of numerous private\, corporate\, and museum collections. Stella’s work is featured in Karlyn Holman’s book “Watercolor : The Spirit of Spontaneity.” Since 2001\, Stella has been an invited instructor at Daniel Smith Inc.\, one of the world’s leading producers of art materials. The company purchased one of her paintings for its permanent collection. She has also been featured in John Cogley’s interview series In the Artist’s Studio.\n\n\n\n\n\nThrough her watercolors paintings\, Stella prides herself in sharing her passion for beauty\, her belief in human connection\, and her unwavering joy for life. Stella’s watercolor portfolio consists of vivid\, inviting\, wet-in-wet landscapes\, waterscapes\, and portraiture. Her art is a vivid dialogue between her inner world and the canvas\, alive with vibrant color\, sweeping\, dynamic brushstrokes\, and an undeniable emotional presence. She began her journey as a design graduate of the University of California at Davis. Teresa has since worked in both Graphic Design and Fine Art. Recently\, she has devoted her energy to raising a family on 5 acres in the rural countryside of Wilton\, California. With time to teach and explore\, Teresa joined art societies\, participated in Plein-Air Events\, and most recently became a pupil again at Terry Miura’s Friday class. Teresa’s painterly realistic style is inspired by many artists and styles. She combines her background in watercolor with pastels to capture the nuances of place and light to interpret both different worlds. Teresa was featured in “Quintessential California” at the Pence Gallery in November 2021. Embracing the challenging rich life of a full-time artist\, Teresa exhibited at “Its Street Studio Collective” in Winters\, California\, in 2015. For over 50 years Andy has been a civil/structural engineer and watercolorist in San Francisco. Self-taught and painting in the west-coast transparent watercolor style\, his paintings evoke the luminous qualities of the aqua medium. His subjects are varied\, drawn from everywhere painted in an impressionist painterly style.He was introduced to watercolor painting in the early70’s. His apartment overlooked Dolores Park in S.F. and he would watch\, unbeknownst to him George Post give his plein-air workshops. Evidently\, this icon\, one of the early proponents of the west-coast watercolor movement lived around the corner! Keep it simple\, catch that mood and be quick! Rarely does he spend more than an hour or two on a painting.Now that he is retired from engineering\, he finds himself drifting around town either ‘urban sketching’ or painting with his Plein-air gear trying to capture the mood and visuals of the city.His Studio/Gallery is located at the corner of Irving St. & 16th Avenue in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco\, just a few blocks from Golden Gate Park. \n\nZoom Link

SUMMARY:General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:WASH invites you to the demonstration of Anselm Yew on March 10th at 1:30pm. Anselm attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco in the late 90s. He focused first on 3-D animation\, then 2-D. After many fruitful years doing 2-D animation for ads\, games\, cartoons\, and multimedia\, Anselm drifted to digital illustration. Here\, he developed concept art for mobile games. Eventually\, in an attempt to expand his portfolio\, he started getting into gouache and watercolor in his free time. His beautiful colors capture the landscape\, cityscape\, and people.\n\nAnselm analyzes each of his paintings by breaking objects into abstract shapes. He starts with the largest shape\, then progresses to the smallest. Next\, Anselm tries to perceive areas of contrast\, then of temperature\, and finally color. He considers where to place soft and hard edges. Anselm continually strives to learn and discover.\n\nAnselm is grateful and excited to be demonstrating for WASH on March 10th at 1:30pm!
