About Ping Long:
Ping Long, a native of Shanghai, is one of China’s most influential living watercolor artists. He a signature member of the China Artists Association, currently serves as Vice President and Executive Director of the Shanghai Artists Association and is a professor, Shanghai University of Engineering Science. Since 1989, his works have been selected for several times for China National Art Exhibitions. He won the Bronze Award at the 9th National Art Exhibition in 1999, and his piece *Urban Impressions won the Silver Award at the 6th National Watercolor and Pastel Exhibition in 2002. He received the Gold Award at the National Watercolor Plein Air Exhibition in 2003, and in 2024, his watercolor work won the Silver Award at the 6th Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. He has published eleven books— including “Selected Works of Chinese Watercolorist Ping Long”, “Watercolor Landscape: Plein Air Painting and Creation”, and “Naturally” and his works are held in the collections of institutions such as the National Art Museum of China and the Shanghai Art Museum.
“All descriptions of scenery are expressions of emotion.” For Ping Long, creating landscape is both a distillation of aesthetic beauty and a form of self-expression that flows naturally from the accumulation of experience and feeling. Characterized by lyrical expressiveness and fluid, spirited ink-and-wash techniques, his landscapes possess a captivating poetic quality.
WASH Workshop Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation of a workshop by the person registered six (6) weeks or more prior to the first day of the workshop is 100% refundable less a $50 registration fee.
- Cancellations with less than six (6) weeks before the start: you may find a substitute to take your place or ask the workshop committee registrar to assist you, if there is a waiting list. It is the responsibility of the person registered to make his/her own reimbursement arrangements with the substitute. The workshop committee will not be involved.
- Once the workshop begins, there will be no refunds for no-shows or withdrawals.
- WASH reserves the right to cancel workshops due to insufficient enrollment or other reasons beyond our control. If WASH cancels a workshop, applicants will receive a full registration fee refund. Any non-registration fees including hotel, airfare, car rental fees, etc. are not covered by WASH.
